About Durrës

Durrës is one of the oldest cities in Albania and the Balkans, founded in 627 BC as Epidamnos by Greek colonists. Today, it serves as the country's main port and a popular beach destination for locals and tourists alike.

The city's crown jewel is its Roman Amphitheatre, one of the largest in the Balkans, which once hosted 20,000 spectators and still stands impressively in the city center. The Archaeological Museum houses artifacts spanning millennia, telling the story of this ancient trading hub.

Modern Durrës offers a long sandy beach promenade lined with hotels, restaurants, and cafés. The city is just 33 kilometers from Tirana, making it an easy day trip or a convenient base for exploring the Albanian coast.
